To celebrate World Environment Day, Ascendi unveiled two graffiti murals, in Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia, created by the artists, Tiago Braga “Fedor“ and Nuno Barbedo “The Caver“, with the view to emphasize the importance of preserving the environment. This initiative integrates the scope of Ascendi’s sustainability policy and has to do with the concern to cultivate an ethical and responsible relationship with the environment, promoting a culture of biodiversity valuing and sustainable environmental practices.

For intervention in the structure of Ascendi located in the Roundabout of São Mamede Infesta was chosen the artist Tiago Braga “Fedor”. His mural is an appeal for environmental harmony. The elements of the composition represented in a large scale (man, woman, fauna and flora) coexist in a balanced way, and share the same chromatic palette, forming a single entity that, in turn, protects and cares for the Planet Earth represented at the center, with a clean and polished appearance.

The mural located at the exit of A44 to Francelos, was created by the artist Nuno Barbedo “The Caver”, has a very figurative style, with a resource to Portuguese travelling icons, creating an harmonic composition with a lot of visual impact, but not intrusive to the public space. With pronounced bluish tones, the mural thus also intends to create a synchrony with the chromatic universe of Ascendi. The mural is an inspiration for those who pass by, promoting smiles, fantasy and dreams, associated with fauna and flora.

Committed with environmental performance continuous improvement, Ascendi has developed several initiatives to highlight the importance of nature in society´s daily life. Ascendi is the exclusive patron of the Serralves Foundation’s TreeTop Walk; marked World Tree Day, calling for the reduction of paper consumption and more recently, marked World Biodiversity Day with a contest for first-grade children, under the slogan “Why should I care for and protect biodiversity.”
